1. Initial Layer Setup

Start by loading an image into Morphic Studio. Here, a boy is chasing a butterfly.

2. Auto Segment Layers

Use the Auto Segment feature from the Settings Panel to automatically divide the scene into separate layers.

This segmentation will give us three layers: one for the boy, one for the background, and one original layer as a whole. Each segmented layer is now independently adjustable.

3. Manually Segment Layers

Let's further segment the butterfly from the background layer manually. Zoom on to the butterfly, and add 'Positive Points' from the Prompt Bar. Add 'Negative Points' on any surrounding element you do not want to include in the segmentation. Here, I've added Positive Points on the butterfly, and Negative Points on the branch right behind the butterfly.

Positive Points are marked in Blue, while Negative Points are marked in Red.

The result will segment the butterfly into a separate layer.

4. Duplicate the Background Layer on a new Artboard

Duplicate the Background Layer on a new Artboard. This will only duplicate the background, leaving out the boy and the butterfly from the original Artboard.

5. Duplicate Other Layers

Duplicate other layers, the one with the boy and the one with the butterfly, on the new Artboard. In order to create a new keyframe, let's move the boy closer to the butterfly in the new Artboard. Segmentation allows you to adjust individual layers without affecting other layers.

Now with the newly created keyframe using the Layers feature, you can Interpolate this into a scene.
